Darrell's Mom: Still Loving God

When we explained to Rebecca that Grandmommy’s heart was not working the way it was supposed to, she interpreted it to mean (1) it was not loving God and (2) it was upside-down. Well, I’m pleased to tell you that my mom still loves God and (as far as I know) her heart is not upside-down! She is home from the hospital, but still needs to get her coumadin regulated to keep her from getting (pretty gruesome) nosebleeds. We’ll know more tonight.

Also, Connie’s mom is making a spectacular recovery. She has one last test today and, based on the results, could be going home tonight.

Thanks for all your prayers. Keep ‘em coming!

May God bless you all during these difficult times.

Your daughter’s comments, and often the comments of other children, are good examples of how we often interpret something literally and miss the actual meaning. We may take something literally when it is meant to be metaphorical or visa versa. The Biblical word “heart,” I’ve been told, has different overtones than our current meaning of heart.

When I think of the “heat” that has been generated over Biblical translations and the “inerrancy” of the Bible, these examples are humbling. The Bible is the Word of God. I do believe that. We may say it is “inspired” or “inerrant” or whatever we choose to say. But that doesn’t mean that our interpretations are correct or inerrant.

Chuckling here…this is good news and I’m still praying. My mom has had some of those coumadin nosebleeds, and they are gruesome indeed!
