Jerome at Connected Christianity is asking some hard questions about civility‚Äîand basic human decency‚Äîon the Internet. I don’t run a terribly controversial blog, and even when my readers (all four of you!) have differences of opinion, we all seem to know how to behave ourselves. But it is sometimes unsettling to see the kinds of behavior that Jerome has noticed. That is why there are some “Christian” discussion forums I choose not to visit.
Paul wrote, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone” (Col 4:6). That probably applies to our written words, too.
