While I Was Out

I’m back from San Diego, along with my family and all my luggage. I expect my sense of what time it is will follow in the next couple of days. In the meantime, while I was out Ben Witherington wrote an excellent (and scathing) review of Frank Viola and George Barna’s Pagan Christianity. It is worth reading in full:

The bottom line: There is in fact a reasonable biblical case to be made, supplemented by a reading of other early Christian documents, for many of the supposed sins and errors of the “institutional church.” Barna and Viola have overplayed their hand by failing to tackle the historical evidence that contradicts their thesis.

Lapsed Catholicism is a religion. That’s clear when you read James Joyce or George Barna.

    Welcome home!
