Production deadlines are nearly met, thanks be to God! I’ve got a bit of online support prep left to do and a couple of pieces yet to sign off, but I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel and I’m sure it isn’t a train.
For the next few weeks, I’ll be taking on some extra projects at church, but hopefully at least one of them will be bloggable.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll be serving a short-term stint as “Minister of Pastoral Care.” As our pastor continues his well deserved sabbatical, the grant money that made it possible also makes provision for someone to visit shut-ins, check in on members in the hospital, and generally hold down the fort so the rest of our ministerial staff don’t get overwhelmed doing their jobs as well as the pastor’s. For the next five weeks, that someone is me. So far, it has been pretty uneventful on the home front with Dr. Bob away. Let’s hope that trend continues!
Starting thus Sunday, I’ll be teaching a series of Sunday school lessons on the New Testament world with a focus on the Synoptic Gospels. We’ll look into some of the sociological aspects of understanding the thoughts and motivations of the folks that inhabit the New Testament: honor and shame, patronage systems, the concept of limited good, etc. I can’t wait to hear what I’m going to say! 🙂
Starting today, I’ve got a column due for the church newsletter! Let’s all pretend I can think of something to say and then write it up on my lunch hour….
