The religion of ancient Persia influenced the development of early Judaism, although the degree of influence is more subject to debate that this article on Comment Is Free lets on. It would be uncontroversial, however, to suggest that the emerging Judaism of the post-exilic period was motivated to provide answers for the sorts of questions (about the problem of evil, angels, eschatology, etc.) that Zoroastrianism was asking—as later Jews and Christians attempted to make their faith comprehensible in Greek philosophical terms.
