A Vocabulary of Inspiration

Ken Schenck has unpacked some of the vocabulary Christians use to describe what they think about the Bible (infallible, inerrant, etc.). What is most helpful is how he attempts to show how the language we use about Scripture varies (or should) as we deal with different genres of biblical literature. (I’ve long thought at least half the arguments Christians get into about “inerrancy” could be resolved if we’d only pay attention to the genre question…)

You may find his definitions helpful—and you will certainly do well to heed his caveats about how these words can be misused when applied where they don’t properly belong.
