Here’s a thought: Movements and belief systems that appeal to a broad cross-section of humanity (rich and poor, educated and uneducated, every race and ethnicity, both genders) do so because they touch on realities that everyone (or nearly everyone) already perceives—even if they don’t have the words to describe them.

Movements and belief systems that fail to do so demonstrate by that fact that they are culture-bound and parochial.
