According to CNN, American regional accents are thriving quite nicely.
Just to be picky …. y’all is actually, technically, indicative of a dialectal rather than an accent matter. Y’see: accent is about pronunciation, dialect is when grammatical features get involved. And the invention of a new 2nd person plural pronoun (“y’all”) is grammar.
